Oktoberfest began in Munich in 1810 to mark the marriage of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony. What began as a grand horse race and a popular festival eventually became a legendary annual tradition that celebrates Bavarian culture, good beer and traditional cuisine.
Nowadays, the spirit of the German beer festival transcends borders to bring people from all over together around large mugs, iconic treats such as pretzels and classic bratwurst sausages, and an unrivalled festive atmosphere.
